NEURODIVERSE-AFFIRMING THERAPY

Home: Welcome

YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE

Home: About Therapy

Many of us suffer because we feel that we don’t fit in or because we experience the world differently from what we are told we are supposed to.

Quirky, queer, sensitive, creative and neurodivergent people often wonder why daily living and achieving “success” appears so much easier for others.

YOU MAY STRUGGLE WITH:

  • Focus and concentration

  • Handling emotions

  • Relationships

  • Following through with commitments

  • Meeting goals

  • A demoralized self-image

You are not alone.

In fact 1 in 5 people really do learn and think differently. Clients come to me when they are interested in working with their brains and not against them.

NO, you are not broken, stupid or lazy, but you may truly be different and in need of a different approach to therapy.

HI, I'M JESSICA TAYLOR

I specialize in helping neurominority adults, mature adolescents and parents heal the deep shame and confusion often associated with cognitive and sensory differences.

I work from a Neurodiversity Paradigm perspective which sees our differences, including ADHD, autism and dyslexia, etc. as valid and valuable, and recognize that the concepts of "normal" and “disability” change by society and context.

I teach people to embrace their differences and to use them constructively to create a fulfilling and satisfying life.

My practice is non-patholigizing, playful, humanistic, sex positive, culturally sensitive and LGBTQ+ affirming.

I look forward to supporting you.

Many individuals who embrace the concept of neurodiversity believe that people with differences do not need to be cured; they need help
and accommodation instead.

The concept of neurodiversity provides a paradigm shift in how we think about mental functioning. Instead of regarding large portions of the American public as suffering from deficit, disease, or dysfunction in their mental processing, neurodiversity suggests that we instead speak about differences in cognitive functioning

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN NEURODIVERSE-AFFIRMING THERAPY?

I can help you.

As an effective therapist with my own learning disability and ADHD, and parent of a neurodivergent child, I combine lived experience, proven strategies, special training in neurodiversity and the most up-to-date and empirically validated approaches to healing and therapy.

As a neurodivergent learner (or family member) you will benefit from a completely individualized identity/mind/body/spirit approach to therapy with someone who “gets it” right away.
